Safe, Stable, Nurturing Relationships and Environments Quilts

Safe, stable, nurturing relationships and environments provide the necessary conditions to reduce the negative impacts of stress on young people to allow for thriving. These three Essentials for Childhood (CDC, 2014) support young people’s mental and physical health and wellness and provide protections that last throughout the lifespan. What are the necessary ingredients for safe, stable, and nurturing relationships and environments? Using an activity innovated by community partner Building a Thriving Compassionate Community (BTCC), a statewide youth mentor community of practice sent three quilts to five communities in Indiana to ask youth that very question. Download the infographic to see what Indiana youth had to say about what it takes to have safe, stable, and nurturing relationships and environments.
